Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers soon will be a member of the Central Florida Sports Hall of Fame.

Rivers, who coached the Orlando Magic from 1999 through 2003 and lives in Winter Park, will be inducted during the PNC Bank SPORTYS awards show on Sept. 24 at Full Sail University.

The Central Florida Sports Commission is expected to formally announce Rivers’ induction later today, a CFSC employee said.

Former Florida Citrus Sports CEO Chuck Rohe and former NFL Pro Bowl running back Ricky Watters, who is now a Central Florida resident, are the two other members of the 2011 Hall of Fame class.

Two members of the Magic organization are finalists for SPORTYS.

Dwight Howard is one of three people up for the Professional Athlete of the Year award. The other finalists are swimmer Ryan Lochte and golfer Yani Tseng.

Magic Director of Brand Management Stephanie Mellenberndt is one of three finalists for the Employee of the Year award, joining UCF’s Tom Snyder and the Track Shack’s Tom Ward.

The Orlando Magic Youth Foundation already has been named the recipient of the Community Spirit Award.
